Health Care for the Homeless Clinic

The Daily Planet Health Care for the Homeless Clinic is the only free, standing health care clinic in the Richmond area. It specializes in a total health care delivery system for not only the homeless, but the uninsured and underinsured. Our board licensed physician and our experienced professional staff, along with our highly maintained facility, provide daily acute and chronic primary medical, dental, eye and psychiatric care to homeless and otherwise indigent patients. The Daily Planet’s unique ability to provide community-based access to a spectrum of basic human services enables our patients to more efficiently and effectively improve their health and spirit. Our responsibility is to ensure that our patients receive the highest quality of medical services from our professional staff through effective medical practices and administrative services. The Health Care for the Homeless Clinic operates Monday through Thursday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. - noon.
Our medical clinic offers primary health care and prescriptions for people who are homeless or uninsured, from the ages of 2-years-old and up.
Screening/Treatment
Our mental health clinic offers a full line of mental health services by a licensed psychiatrist, two nurse-practitioners, and five mental health clinicians/therapists. Mental health intakes are done week-day mornings starting at 8:00 a.m. The first three patients that sign-in for assessments are seen. Medication management and counseling sessions are scheduled by the mental health specialists. Screenings/Treatment
Our dental clinic offers a full line of dental services to include; emergency services such as extractions, routine dental care and preventative dental care. The dental clinic is staffed by a full-time dental assistant and a board certified dentist who provides 20 hours of dental care weekly.
Screenings/Treatment
As the latest addition to our Health Care for the Homeless Clinic, our eye care clinic offers a full line of eye services including eye examinations to evaluate cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and other eye disorders. The eye care clinic is staffed by a Dr. Ajit Tiwari, O.D., a board certified optometrist from Bon Air Vision Center who also provided all of the clinic’s equipment, and is open on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
