Q. What role does the Daily Planet play in Homeward?

A. The Daily Planet is an integral part of Homeward’s continuum of care. It provides leadership to many of Homeward’s initiatives. They include Housing First, Funding Collaborative, Standards Certification and Medical Respite.

Q.  How to I receive services? 

A.  Through Central Intake.  Services for single men or women and families are separate. These are the ways those who need  services can access them:

Q. What makes the Daily Planet unique from other homeless service organizations?

A. Through Central Intake, the Daily Planet serves as the portal for the greater Richmond homeless population’s entrance to services. It offers a full continuum of services which include:

• Intake, Assessment and Case Management through Central Intake
• Outpatient Substance Abuse services through certified SA counselors
• Inpatient Substance Abuse services through certified SA counselors
• Concrete or Street services such as LAUNDRY, SHOWERS, CLOTHES CLOSET, MAIL SERVICES, ESCROW BANKING SERVICES
• Safe Haven, a long term transitional housing program for the chronically homeless and mentally ill
• STRIVE, a vocational educational GED and job placement program
• A comprehensive health clinic providing primary health care, dental care, mental health and psychiatric care and eye care. All at no charge

Q. On what days and at what times can I get access to medical help?

A.  Through these services and at these times:

Medical Clinic: Mon, Tues. & Thur. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wed. 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Fri. 8 a.m. - noon; 

Dental Clinic: Mon., Tues. & Thur. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m (walk-ins and appointments); Wed. 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. (emergency service walk-ins)

Mental Health Clinic: Mon. - Fri. 8 a.m. (Walk-in for new mental health patients); Everything else by appointment only Psychiatrist: Tues. - Thur. 3:30 - 6 p.m.

Eye Care Clinic: Tues. 8 a.m. - noon (by appointment only)
